Our latest project is:

Agripreneurial Monmouthshire: Grants for Farm Diversification

Agripreneurial Monmouthshire is a new project funded by Monmouthshire County Council under the Rural Development Plan. The project is set to run from June 2011 until December 2013.

The primary objective of this project is to financially assist farmers seeking to develop alternative sources of income by diversifying into new markets. The project provides grants to upgrade facilities or develop new facilities as well as support for renewable energy ventures on farms.

The three grant schemes available are:

1. Capital Investment Grant:

  • The objective of this grant is to provide investment assistance to members of farm households to develop alternative sources of income by diversifying into non-agricultural activities.
  • Financial assistance will be provided towards the upgrading of existing facilities and/or the provision of new facilities intended for use in new non-agricultural ventures such as craft and trade activities.
  • This may include, for example, the renovation of buildings or the purchasing of machinery and equipment.
    Grants are available for 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum grant of £5,000.

2. Renewable Energy Grant:

  • This grant is aimed to provide investment assistance to members of farm households wishing to maintain or increase their income whilst protecting their environment for future generations.
  • Grants are available for 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum grant of £10,000 with an additional £500 available for feasibility studies into renewable energy sources.

3. Eco Tourism Revenue Grant:

  • The objective of this grant is to provide promotional/marketing investment assistance to members of farm households wishing to develop alternative sources of income by diversifying into non-agricultural activities.
  • Grants are available for 50% of eligible costs up to a maximum grant of £2,500.
